The pentagone Thief looks like at Erwin Schrödinger.

He reminds me of dr. emmett brown from back to the future lol

On a more serious note, is it possible that the theif is Clarke from the mission Numbers? Due to the mathmatical symbols all over his body.

Moviemaster1993 00:41, November 14, 2010 (UTC)

It's not likely since Dr. Maxis was betrayed by Dr. Richtofen and KILLED by Fluffy as a Hellhound. -User:JerryWiffleWaffle 01:07, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

Well to be fair what happened to Samantha could have happened to him but yes I highly doubt its him since I belive we have a photo of him on his page that looks nothing like the Thief.M21Sniperteam82308Ghille Sniper 01:11, November 15, 2010 (UTC)

I noticed it now says 'Tech' however, in the Trophy/Achievement list he is referred to as the 'Thief'

{C}From what I've seen, most players call him the 'Thief' including myself, but that's not exactly important, so, what should it be? I think 'Thief' (I mean, he does steal your gun).

@JerryWiffleWaffle Well he may have been "KILLED" (nice tone), however when you shoot him, he doesn't exactly die. He may have been "Zombiefied".

Moviemaster1993 00:14, December 18, 2010 (UTC)

Well, yes, it could be true that he is somewhat zombified in a way that we don't know, since I had the Ray Gun and he stole my AUG, so it took me almost my whole clip to kill him. And I was hitting him straight on in the head. However, we could still maybe find some info on whether he is zombified or not, though he most likely isn't... -User:JerryWiffleWaffle 20:54, January 10, 2011 (UTC) I'm with moviemaster1993 check out these picturesand check out the tattoos on thier left foreheads== Zombies007 == 00:56, June 27, 2011 (UTC): Daniel_Clarke.png Thief_closeup_in_%22Five%22.png

Name Dispute[]

There seems to be some dispute over the name of this mystical scientist. The page is currently in an edit war between those who prefer the name 'Tech', and those who know him as 'Thief'. For the record, the game itself, via the Xbox Achievements and Playstation Trophies, refers to this character as the thief. The name 'Tech' comes from materials contained in the prestige edition of the game. Becuase it is near-unanimously considered that the game itself has first priority over canon, the name 'Thief' is more accurate.

Protocol 115[]

At the beginning of a thief round, the intercom will say: 'Warning, breach detected on level 3, initiate emergency protocol 115" and if you kill him she will say "Attention, containment failed" does this basically suggest that the thief works for the pentagon and if so, why would he attack the players?86.16.74.163 16:24, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

THE THIEF IS DR MAXIS![]

He may be dr maxis Fizzywizzy 16:44, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

Who deleted my edit? It's highly plausible that the Theif is what Gersch has become after the unknown scientist's betrayal as heard on the radios in Ascension. You here the unknown scientist do something to Gersch out of jealousy, which involves a little girl's laugh and Gersch screaming. Korima 08:17, February 2, 2011 (UTC) seriously are you kidding the theif and Clarke have the same tatoo on their forhead and i know that is not maxis.from python366

Uncle Zeddy?[]

Since when was the thief called Zed? Mr. Raptor Jesus 18:31, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

We just asked the same question in IRC. It's a mistake from one of JFK's quotes. Carbonite 0 18:34, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

Nacht der Untoten[]

I believe the thief is the man seen in the loading screen for Nacht der Untoten. The first indication is that the man is seen looking at a crate in some warehouse filled with confiscated materials. This reminded me of the Area 51 facility in Indiana Jones and is probably a Pentagon warehouse. The last panel in the loading screen shows the man entering/leaving a doorway with numbers scattered around him, just like the aura that floats around the Pentagon Thief. Black Ops Official logoPoketape Talk 04:07, May 31, 2011 (UTC)

This is not sufficient evidence to prove that is the Pentagon Thief.

First of all, you can't compare Call of Duty to Indiana Jones and say that is sufficent proof. For all we know that might not even be a Pentagon warehouse. It has boxes with labels of the Russian arm and hammer, the word Cuba, a Chinese flag, and one other I am unsure of. For all we know this might be a warehouse in Germany (most likely) or some other place. Or maybe it is on a ship in the middle of the ocean. We don't know, because the loading screen only gives us limited information.

Now about the guy with the numbers. That could be the pentagon thief, but again there is not sufficient evidence to prove it. That could be a hallucination like in the level revalation when Mason was seeing all of those numbers. Or it could be just a simple backround technique the artist used to add a level of obscurity. Those possiblities combined with the fact the person is a completely black sillhouette, makes it impossible to conclude it is the pentagon thief.

If you have any other proof please write it because this is purely speculation.

All of these materials from Communist countries wouldn't be stored in Germany, they'd be in America, and in a government-controlled facility (like the Pentagon). They're not on a boat as they would most likely be strapped down or something. It wouldn't even make sense to have these things on a boat because that boat would have to travel all over the place. The only guy with numbers in the entire Zombies campaign is the Pentagon Thief, and this would fit with the warehouse because he would have access to all of those locked-up materials. Black Ops Official logoPoketape Talk 02:15, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

Ok then if that is so that makes the possiblities of this warehouse's wherabouts in any one of the blue or green(non-communist) countries shown here.

And lastly, wasn't the loading screen for nacht der untoten drawn during the World at War days therefore having no ties to black ops campaign due to the fact that black ops wasn't even going to be realeased (or even created) for two years? Right? (I don't own world at war so i don't know, I just have read that they have simply redrawn all loading screens for the classic maps in black ops with few minor differences). Like the der riese map is almost exactly the same in black ops as it is in world at war it just looks like it is from an old comic book.

And yes it can be on a large ship. I am pretty sure you know this but, the larger the ship the less effect the waves have on the ship. A ship that large wouldn't need the boxes to be strapped down due to the fact that a ship that large would have barely (if any) rocking motion at all.

Thundergun 3rd Person BOAJ.BialkeTalk!Wunderwaffe DG-2 3rd Person WaW 05:40, June 1, 2011 (UTC)

No, the loading screen for Nacht der Untoten was new for Black Ops. It was not a comic in World at War, it just showed some zombies and fog. And there's no way the warehouse would be in any of the green countries. It just doesn't make sense for it to be in them. As for the blue ones, why would those countries have materials confiscated from China, Russia, Vietnam, and Cuba? There's only one country that would have all of those, and that's America. Black Ops Official logoPoketape Talk 01:07, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

Note: As of TranZit, it has been confirmed Nacht Der Untoten takes place in America. Either that, or there's a completely identical facility in the same area. Snowskeeper---Till Hell Freezes Over. (talk) 05:26, March 12, 2013 (UTC)

Add[]

Also, since this is the Wiki for Black Ops, shouldn't it state how the thief gets there?

For example, but I'm not sure:

The Thief can enter only upon turning on the power in co-op mode. As soon as you do, around rounds 5-8, he shall appear.

Also, it is to be stated, if you are playing "solo," then you shall need to turn on the power and the "Defcon Switches" to 5. After that, he shall appear. (unsigned)

It already says that in the "How the thief works" section. And I don't think the defcon needs to be 5 for him to spawn on solo. Black Ops Official logoPoketape Talk 18:57, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Health[]

Can someone try and figure out how much he has at all?

Zombie or Human[]

Yellow glow http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo241/Legendary-Soldier/bottomzw.jpg~original http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/article/113/1134829/pentagon_thief.jpg it's a zombie. 86.67.72.132 07:50, July 7, 2015 (UTC)

That's not concrete proof that he's undead... Twig (Talk) 07:57, July 7, 2015 (UTC)
If the glow of eyes is not proof, http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Zombie anything on this page is a zombie. 86.67.72.132 08:04, July 7, 2015 (UTC)
Considering the angle that the glow is portrayed on the IGN link makes it look rather like the glow is coming from inside his goggles. Plus his whole MO within the game, He steals your weapon and runs. The common undead do not have the same mental status that humans do. Twig (Talk) 08:08, July 7, 2015 (UTC)
I think the fact that his body isn't rotting or decaying in any way is more proof that he's not a zombie than the glowing eyes prove he is, not to mention that a yellow glow doesn't necessarily mean his eyes are yellow. Conqueror of all Zombies (talk) 16:14, July 7, 2015 (UTC)
Notice how none of the photos show his eyes straight on. Doesn't look very glowy to me. Raven's wing Talk16:28, July 7, 2015 (UTC)
